Men in Kilts

For some reason, the Labor Day parade up Fifth Avenue was not actually on Labor Day (go figure).  So I stumbled upon it on the following Saturday.  There were a fair number of men in kilts marching in the parade.

I ask you, what's not to love about a man wearing a kilt?

Times Square Tilt

What can I say?  Times Square was on my way from Point A to Point B and so I dove in to the chaos that is Times Square on a Sunday afternoon in September.  And survived.

I saw the ten truck last night on my walk home -- turning the corner on to Fulton in the shadow of the Freedom Tower.

And a police car this morning in that same shadow.

Remembering 9/11
I had that thought this morning -- the one that I usually try to push out of my head on this particular day.  The it's a beautiful morning after the rain thought.  This morning, I'm going to own it.  It is a beautiful morning for remembering those we lost here in NYC.

Always Remember.  Never Forget.

Dwarf Apple Blossom Tree

I wonder if this tree actually produces apples?  It's in the gardens of the Golden Rock Inn on Nevis.  The gardens, designed by Raymond Jungles, are chock full of plants from around the world.  This tree originated in Thailand and is also known as the Wishing Tree.

Orchid (Golden Rock Inn, Nevis)

One side effect of cataract surgery (From Severely Myopic to... and That Time in Between) is that I've caught up on some vacation photo organizing.  This orchid is from the gardens of the Golden Rock Inn (Off the Beaten Track Gem) on the wonderful island of Nevis in the British West Indies.
