Scribbles and Photos

Braved the elements today to get a photo of this year's version of the Bryant Park frozen foundation ( Frozen Fountain ).  It was really, really cold out there today -- especially when the wind blew.

I had a really good hour with my camera in Central Park on Friday morning.  My biggest achievement was the headline photo from Snow in the City  --- Strolling in the Snow.  As I wrote on 500px, I have this goal of taking what I think is one of the most iconic shots in NYC -- a single person carrying an umbrella walking north on the mall towards Bethesda Foundation.  After capturing this image, I am going to check that item off on my mental list of photos I'd really like to take.  Unless I happen to be on the Mall with my camera while a single person is walking north towards Bethesda Fountain carrying an umbrella.  Hey, ometimes a person needs to keep her options open -- right? The three photos in this post are of people exercising in the park -- with the exercises of choice being vertical push ups (who knew there was such a thing), walking (yes, walking counts as exercise), and running (while wearing shots!).

I swear, I don't plan these things this way but I was away for the monster winter storm that the national weather service called Storm Jonas.  In fact, it was touch and go as to whether I would get home that Sunday but the intrepid snow removal crew at #JFK got the airport open in plenty of time for my plane to land and for me to make it home for the last quarter of the Patriots and Broncos game (we won't talk about the fact that my Patriots lost -- there is always next year). This more recent storm was just not the stuff of weatherman's dreams so there was no build up to the big event.  It did turn Central Park into a winter wonderland on Friday morning.  It was the sort of snow storm that invites you into its arms as opposed to sending you running for the snow melt and salt.  The kind of storm that I like very much. The Winter Palace party girls in the Saks windows are all grey, and whites with a hint of blue ( Party Girl ).  The Bergdorf girls, on the other hand?  Let's just say it's an explosion of color -- and then some.
