With all this waxing rhapsodic about Xu Bing's Phoenix (Phoenix Rising, On Phoenix Wings) at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine, I've barely touched upon the Cathedral itself.  Here are two reasons it's a stop on most NYC tours year round and not just at the holidays:

• Biggest cathedral in the world and it's not finished yet.
• The Rose Window is the third largest Rose Window in the world -- made of over 10,000 pieces of glass and occupying a place of honor on the West wall above the main entrance to the church.
