David Hoey typically picks a theme for the Bergdorf Goodman holiday windows early in the year. Last year's was "Holiday's on Ice" and every window depicted a different holiday (Day 31: 31 Days of Holiday Windows). This year he was inspired by "inspired", the word that is. My only quibble with the execution of this theme is that all of the sciences (while all 3 of them that they depict) are on the men's store while the arts grace the ladies store. In an era where we want to encourage young women to pursue careers in science, engineering, and technology -- this seems like a bit of a miss to me. Some day (soon I hope), maybe he'll introduce diversity and some broader thinking about women's role in Society into these windows of his.

I do really like these windows -- don't get me wrong -- just wishing the #BGwindows team would broaden its horizons a bit. Would have been great to have had a female astronomer, botanist, or chemist. Although I am not sure which of the arts I would have moved move to the men's windows and maybe, giving him the benefit of the doubt, that is what stymied Mr. Hoey.
